Jealousy.... and happiness for others.

So, I'm stalking blogs today on my lunch and I come across this new video and I thought it was worth sharing.

It is so adorable and funny. For those of you who are new to understanding this process, this is the moment when a Colorado couple FINALLY received their referral. (I don't know why, but for some reason they were on the waiting list for an unusually long period of time) Like I said before, a referral comes about 4 months after your dossier (paperwork) is approved and sent to Ethiopia. It is a photo and information regarding the child you have been placed with.

God willing, this couple will travel to Ethiopia to get their child in about 3 months.

So am I slightly jealous about their 5-week old baby boy? YES!

But to be honest, right now I'm mostly growing in confusion. I know there is no easy way to predict when this process will fall into place, but it's frustrating to read about some couples who have only waited a few months for referrals then only to see other blogs about others waiting 8+ months! I really really pray that we can at least do our part to move this process along as quickly as possible. We have our first "International Adoption Awareness" meeting tomorrow, and we will be notarizing and then turning in our formal application. Yay!

Also - I saw this on another blog today and had to have it! So touching

What can I teach you about being Black?
Not much,
Because I'm not.
But I can teach you about pain,
And how to forgive peoples foolish words.
I can show you how to endure suffering,
So that through it Truth will be proclaimed.
I can love you and cry with you,
I can be the she-bear when you are threatened.
We can live where there is a rainbow of people,
and we can learn to love them together.
We can seek out the truth of history,
And not be afraid of the ugliness.
I can open your heart and your eyes
To the painful reality that comes clinging to the back of sin.
And in the end,I can release you into your destiny,
And wait for you to come home,
With a fuller understanding of who you are
and what you are to be in your life.
Then I can listen as you teach me,
What it means to be Black.
