So, we didn't actually go to the orphanage until about 2:30 on Wednesday, June 16th. (And no, I am NOT surprised this day fell on a Wednesday. To see why, click here) In the morning we toured 2 Orthodox Christian churches. It was very interesting because the people of Ethiopia live in great faith, but to be honest, it was hard to focus because I knew we were only a few hours away from finally meeting Eli. So, I won't even bother posting the pictures of that sightseeing event on here, I'll just get you to the video you want to see of us meeting Eli. This is us at the orphanage where Eli spent 2 1/2 months waiting for us. It was truly a moment I will never forget, and I am forever grateful to the people there for taking care of our Eli while our process was finalized.

After we left we just headed right back to The Sadula Guest House and settled in to our new life as a family of 3. And although it would seem at this point that everything was done and final, we did find a big problem with our documents that almost delayed us being able to leave Ethiopia. Those posts and of course more Eli pics to come as I wrap up the trip recap next week. Until then, have a fabulous 4th of July everyone! We certainly will be celebrating our first holiday together as a family.
(I totally sound like a journalist writing a show tease in this last paragraph, but hey, what do you expect from a former news reporter?)
Until next week...
