The first stop was to the local University in Addis. They have a museum inside, and actually this building used to be a palace, the bedrooms are still in tact. We weren't allowed to take photos inside, but we were able to grab a shot of the outside.
Then it was off to see some lions. I was happy I was able to grab some cool shots, but I will just say it, I am not a big fan of animals caged in this way. I am not a huge fan of zoo's for this exact reason. That was probably why I liked the hippo and monkey experience so much better than this. I would personally just prefer that these animals get to be in their natural habitat rather than put on display for the public. Nonetheless though, it was neat to see them so close up
Then we moved on to another history museum, this time we could snap some pictures. Now don't get me wrong, I want to understand Ethiopian history, but Mark is SO much more into this kind of stuff than I am. I'm thankful he was so interested and absorbed everything. I did like all the crowns they had in there though! (I'm sure this is a big surprise to all my MAO peeps!)
After the museums we went back and got dressed and Mark and I were dreading our dinner plans because again we weren't stomaching the food very well. But, thankfully WE WERE SO WRONG! We went to the most amazing restaurant and dinner show. And our guide made sure to order something that we could handle. We had a FANTASTIC time this night, enjoyed a couple of beers and a traditional orange drink (I can't quite recall the exact name of it) we did the traditional hand washing ceremony and had more of Ethiopia's amazing coffee. It was absolutely a fanstastic night and just what I needed to take my mind off the waiting as I was getting so incredibly antsy to meet Eli. It was just a riot.
Tomorrow is the post everyone has been waiting for, it's Eli Day!
