6 Months Old & Transition Update

So, as of July 10th Eli is 6-months old! I can't believe we have already had him for a month! He has changed so much and is doing so well. These are some of the things he's doing:

-Sitting up without support for about 10 seconds.

-Rolling over front to back and back to front. He's definitely starting the process toward crawling, he's all over the place scooting around

-Screaming in excitement (this is no longer one of my favorites, it was super cute for like a day.)

-Makes lots of different sounds, and even tries to repeat me when I say, "Momma" but he is mixing up the sounds. We're still trying!

-Obviously from the picture, he's eating solid foods, rice cereal mixed with bananas and more recently apples have been added.

People are also always asking me about how our transition is going. Well, I'd say it's going fabulously. He is very comfortable with us, and I see good signs of attachment everyday. For example, he does that thing where when he gets a little shy around other people, he grabs onto me, puts his face into my shoulder and snuggles me while he giggles. I know that might not seem like much to most mom's, but for a baby with Eli's history, these are important signs that he understands who is primary caregiver is and trusts that I will protect him from the feelings he doesn't understand yet. He also is definitely comfortable letting us know how he feels about things, and this is especially the case when we are at home. I think he does understand that our house is where he lives now. As for sleeping, that has been going great too, he sleeps pretty much through the night, he's in bed by 8, gets up for a bottle and a diaper change at 11:30 then we don't hear from him again until 7:30. I have REALLY enjoyed getting to sleep in a little bit as I used to get up at 6:40 everday. His naps are really touch and go depending on the day, sometimes he does great and naps twice a day for 2+ hours, then sometimes I can barely get 45 minutes out of him.

So that's where we are! We are having a lot of fun, being a parent is such a joy. It is a ton of work, but he is such a joy to have in our lives. I thank the Lord he put this special gift of adoption on my heart, I truly look around and can't picture my life any other way. It's been so amazing. And here's a little video of Eli from a few days back, I was sick so ignore my raspy voice, but this is pretty much how Eli is all the time, my smiley boy.

Have a great week everyone!
