Waiting is such a sweet word right now. In 3-9 months I don't think I'll be singing the same tune, but for now I like it. :-)
Since we are now in the early part of the waiting period I have some things I need to get accomplished to prepare for the baby. Please understand though, there are certain things I have vowed NOT to do until we get our referral. Some of those things are:
Pick out a name (May not be necessary since we may keep his Ethiopian name)
Allow someone to throw a baby shower (Patience girls, patience.)
Buy baby clothes
Decorate the nursery
I know what you are thinking, that I've eliminated the fun stuff, right? Yeah, we're saving that stuff until after we see his little face.
However, there are some things we do want to get done from now until referral day. Those things are:
1. Find a pediatrician with international experience. (Please send suggestions my way!)
2. Move the guest bedroom to the basement, the workout room to the unfinished part of the basement and the office to the old guest room.
3. Paint the nursery and the guest room downstairs.
4. Figure out what immunizations we have to get
5. Buy nursery furniture
6. Find ways to just enjoy "quiet"
7. Go on another vacation with friends
8. Read a book about Ethiopian culture
9. Go to the Ethiopian restaurant in Grand Rapids
Yep, and that's about it.... I think. For now though, I am spending my time thinking about attacking that nursery like crazy after our referral day. So, in the spirit of all that, here are a couple of pictures of what I am thinking for the baby's room.
Plane Theme! (Since we will be coming home on a plane, ya know?!)

Mobile: (My sister has convinced me that I need to have this style instead of the plastic ones)
Crib:

I am excited for this time, I think the first three months will go by pretty easily and the rest will be painfully slow, so bear with me from December until referral day.
Much love to all of you!
