Post It Notes: Birthday Week

Happy Birthday to Mark and me! I turn 27 tomorrow (Thursday) and he turns 29 on Friday. I think it's kinda neat that our birthdays are so close. I don't know if he always feels the same way though, he always says we are still celebrating my birthday on his birthday, but whatever, I think it's fun to have them back-to-back. ;-)

So, I bet you can't guess what we want for our birthday's? Yep... you guessed right. I am praying praying praying so hard for a referral before Saturday. Partially because it would be a great birthday gift for both of us and also because we have a ton of people coming into town for our baby shower on Saturday and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to know who our little one is so I can show him off to everyone at the party.

So if you don't mind, please send up a prayer or 2 for us. Just ask God to please help the wait for referral to end this week. We trust His timing is best of course, and we are very hopeful His timing is this week!

7/5/12: Faxed in preliminary application to Adoption Associates.

11/16/12: Dossier to Ethiopia, officially "waiting". Informed we are #41 on the waiting list.

Important Words To Remember:

*Dossier* The set of documents that we send to Ethiopia to be put on the waiting list.

*Referral* The photo and information on our child that we will receive several months after we've been on the waiting list. This is when we find out who our little one is!

*Court date* After we receive our referral, a court date will be set up about 6 weeks later. We will travel to Ethiopia for this hearing.

*First Trip* The trip both of us will take to attend the court hearing and meet our child.

*Second Trip* The second trip when one of us will travel to pick up the child from Ethiopia and bring them home!

"Why?"

Answer: Mark and I don't really know, we believe there is a reason God put it on our hearts to adopt first rather than trying to have biological children. This does not mean we will never try for a biological child, it's just not where we are being led to build our family right now. We ask that you please respect our decision and join us in celebrating our amazing family!
