Well, I can’t say I didn’t expect these things to happen, I was just really really hopeful they wouldn’t. And yes, I know I need to just trust in God’s timing on things like this… it’s just hard.
As most of you know, Mark and I lived in Pennsylvania until about a year ago. During adoption, you have to have background checks done for anywhere that you’ve lived in the last several years. So, for us, that would include Pennsylvania. So apparently, back on June 7th our caseworker Emailed to tell us that we would have to submit the request for the information from Pennsylvania ourselves. Well, apparently there was an Email problem, our case worker typed the wrong address for me and the message didn’t get to us. No phone call to follow up on why we never responded, nothing. Now, it’s July 1st we have all of our required reading done and I Email her to let her know I’m going to drop it all off at the agency so they can officially approve us and she responds with this information. Then she tells me there’s nothing to worry about because this should only take a week to get the documents, but then I call Pennsylvania to double check, and sure enough, I’m not even allowed to call and check on the status of the request for 3 weeks!! We were so close to being past this step, its very frustrating.
To make matters worse, I looked up my post from when we first started this process to see that the month of July is when I was hoping our Dossier would be on it’s way to Ethiopia. I wish I had never looked at that.
