I love when someone has really deep passion about a topic. I don't find much to be more admiring then when someone finds a cause and is relentless about getting themselves educated so they can speak on behalf of an organization and issue that is important to them. It's awesome.
However, in recent days I have very irritated with what invokes 'passion' among many Americans.
A chicken franchise. Really? We are angered and outraged and motivated to 'make a statement' because of an opinion of someone who runs a chain of chicken restaraunts?
Let me give you some facts about our world that, in my opinion, are a reason for outrage:
But yet,our country is spending our time protesting and banning a chicken place.
Let me be clear, this is not a post discrediting anyone who is supportive of gay marriage. As I said, I find it to be admiring when people are passionate and educated about an issue or cause and are doing something powerful with it. My problem with the whole Chick-Fil-A thing is that it's not an issue or cause, it's just someone else's opinion about an issue. I am thankful to live in a place where even if I don't agree, we are all free to have our opinion. For me, my opinion is that it doesn't matter to me if you are gay, straight, bisexual or anything else, I will be nice to you if you are nice to me. I have learned over the years that relationships are better and more meaningful if you love people just for who they are, not for their sexual choices. To be honest, I really think if more people thought that way, we would be able to truly focus on the real issues of this world instead of banning chicken sandwiches over some wealthy guy's thoughts.
K- I've wasted enough time participating in this...

16,000 children die of hunger each day.
Today alone 1,200 children will die of AIDS.
163,000,000 children carry the burden of being labeled an orphan
Nearly 650,000 people in America are homeless.
But yet,our country is spending our time protesting and banning a chicken place.
