The Waiting Game

I have great news! The dossier folder and I have officially broken up!! I think I carried it around with me for about a month at least, so I'm pretty excited to see it go.  For both adoptions I have taken on the responsibility of putting together all of our our dossier documents, so this step takes a HUGE amount of stress off my shoulders.

The documents left my hands on Monday and are now in Washington DC for some authentification. Then, they will then head back to our agency and then off to Ethiopia sometime next week. So, this means our paperwork is done!!! Now, we can just sit back and wait for the months to pass until we receive our referral call.

However, it seems like with adoption it can seem like some of the great news can also come with some not-so-great news too. So, I was a little impatient and I asked our case worker what number we will be on the waiting list.

And, here it is:

Yep, 42. To me, this feels like a really, really high number. However, there are a lot of families waiting for more than one child and some others waiting specifically for boys, so if I go back and take those families off the list we are probably somewhere around #30. So, for me, that sounds a little better!

I won't lie, the waiting phase is the hardest part for me personally because of all the unknowns. I think and dream, worry and wonder a lot about the little one that will ultimately join our family. It comes with so much uncertainty that sometimes I get a little frustrated and emotional about it, so please pray for strength for me during this time. I'm really going to try my best not to worry as much this time around. Thankfully, I have two very awesome guys that are a great distraction. :-)

I'll have another waiting list number update at the beginning of December, so please pray for some big movement this month!

Until next time...
