It's been a lil' over a week since we got our first glance of the most beautiful little one who is going to bless us beyond what we can probably even comprehend right now. (I still can't believe I'm saying this!)So, over the last week or so lots of questions have come up, and we are so excited that all of you are so excited for us! It has been so fun showing lil Baby Post off to you! So since we've had some time to absorb the reality of everything now, I thought I'd take some time here to answer some of the questions we've been getting a lot over the last week.
1.) "When will you go get him?"
This is by far the most common question right now. Truth is we don't know for sure. It should be sometime within the next 3-4 months. Our next step is to "pass court" and once we do that we should travel about 6 weeks later. So pray we get a court date soon! My hope is that we will travel and bring him home sometime in July. (Sidenote: it looks like we will just make the deadline in Ethiopia under the old laws and we won't have to make 2 trips to Ethiopia, which was a concern several weeks ago. YAY!)
2.) "What's his name?" as well as, "So, are you keeping his Ethiopian name or changing it?" as well as, "What are your name choices?"
I'm not going to post his Ethiopian name online. Sorry folks, if you want to know and you don't know it by now, call me and I'll tell you. I'm just not sure I'm even allowed to put it online at this point so I'd rather be safe than sorry and wait until we pass court and he is legally ours before putting it on here. Secondly, we don't know if we are changing his name yet or not. If I had to bet right now I'd say we are going to push it to a middle name and select a new first name, but we still are not 100% sure about that either. Thirdly, VERY few people know what our name choices are at this point and we don't really feel comfortable sharing them with a lot of people yet since we are still tossing some around. We want to make this decision on our own. I hope you all understand that although we love sharing this journey with so many of you, there are just some things that we would like to decide on by ourselves. It seems everyone has an opinion on what we should do with his name and nobody's opinion is the same, so it's more confusing than anything.
3.) "What do you know about his birth mom?"
This is a bit of a sensative topic for us, so please go and read this.
4.) "So, what is life like for him right now?"
Thankfully Baby Post is in a VERY well respected orphanage in Ethiopia and we have talked with many, many families who assure us that we need not worry about his care, the nannies that work there are phenomenal and they cry each time one of their children leave because they love them so very much. Although I wish Baby Post could be at home right now, I am confident he is being well cared for while the court process continues.
In closing, thank you so much for all of your support. You have no idea how much we appreciate it. By the way, our lil' one turned 3 months old today! We are so very blessed and we are THRILLED for this next chapter of our lives. I'm STILL on cloud 9!!
